Advice before you start.
Straight answers to the things people ask us before a kitchen, fitted furniture or joinery job. If yours is not here, ring us and ask.
Supply and install, supply only, or install only
Design, supply and install is the full job. We measure, design, order, strip out and install, and project manage the electrician, gas engineer, plasterer and plumber. One point of contact and one written quote.
Supply only suits builders and confident self builders with their own fitter. You get a proper design and a full parts list.
Install only is for a kitchen you have already bought, from Wren, Howdens, B&Q, IKEA or elsewhere. We check the order before we start and tell you if anything is missing.
What happens at a design visit
We come to the house, measure the room ourselves and talk through what you want from it. The visit is free and there is no obligation. Afterwards you get a written quote setting out the work, the materials and the price.
It helps to have a rough idea of style and colour, any photographs you like, and a list of the appliances you want to keep.
Why old houses need measuring properly
Old houses are rarely square and floors are rarely level. Standard units pushed into a room like that leave gaps. We scribe, pack and cut the work to the room in front of us, and we deal with what we find underneath rather than covering it up.
If we find a problem once the old kitchen is out
Rotten floors, old pipework and loose plaster are common once old units come out. We stop, show you, explain what it needs and agree it with you before carrying on.
Electrics, gas and plastering
We bring in our regular NICEIC registered electrician and Gas Safe engineer, plus plastering and decorating where needed. The relevant certificates are issued afterwards.
Making the most of awkward spaces
Under stairs, alcoves, sloping ceilings and chimney breasts are where made to measure furniture earns its keep. Drawers that follow the stair angle, wardrobes built into the slope of a loft room, and media walls scribed to the chimney breast all use space that standard units leave empty.
