Joinery made for one room, and no other.

Bespoke fitted furniture by Bespoke Joinery NE
Bespoke joinery, made locally and installed on site.

Most homes have a job that nothing bought will fit. Uneven alcoves, a staircase that needs updating, a hallway that needs panelling, a bay that wants a seat or a landing that could hold a desk. That is the work we do.

Every piece is measured, made locally in the North East and installed by the same small team. Matt is a time served joiner with over twenty years behind him and he is on site for the jobs he prices, with Cameron alongside him.

We will tell you at the visit if something will not work, or if a simpler build gets you the same result for less. You get a drawing, a written price and a date, and the price does not move afterwards.

The bespoke joinery we build

If your job is not on this list, ring and describe it. Most of what we build started as a phone call.

Alcove units and shelving

Cabinets, cupboards and shelving built into uneven alcoves, scribed to the walls, skirting and floor.

Wall panelling

Measured panelling for hallways, bedrooms and living rooms, worked around sockets, switches, stairs and existing mouldings.

Staircase joinery

Newel posts, handrails, spindles, cladding and staircase upgrades planned around the structure already in the house.

Window seats and boot rooms

Bay seating, benches, hooks and shoe storage with lift up or drawer storage underneath.

Home offices and bookcases

Desks, cable management and floor to ceiling shelving built into alcoves, landings and spare rooms.

One off furniture

Utility units, radiator covers, shaped work and other pieces that have to follow an awkward line in an older house.

The same hands from measure to install

You are not handed from a salesperson to a fitter you have never met. The person who measures the job is the person who builds it and the person you ring if something needs sorting afterwards.

What that means for you

  • Time served joiner, over twenty years on the tools
  • Free design visit and a fixed written quote
  • Made locally and scribed to the room on site
  • NICEIC registered electrician for any wiring
  • Gas Safe engineer where a job needs one
  • Primed ready for your decorator, or finished by us
  • Dates agreed before we start, and kept
  • Rubbish taken away and the room left clean

How a bespoke joinery job runs

Straightforward, and the same every time.

1

Design visit

We come to the room, measure it, look at how you use it and talk through what is realistic. Free, with nothing owed at the end.

2

Design and quote

A drawing or a clear description, material and finish options, and one written price that covers the whole job.

3

Build and install

Made locally in the North East, then installed and scribed to the walls, skirting and floor, with any electrics first fixed before things close up.

4

Snag and hand over

We walk round it with you, sort anything that needs sorting, take the rubbish away and leave the room clean.

What people say afterwards

Rated 5.0 on Google and Checkatrade, with every review answered personally.

We used Matt to install a kitchen we purchased from InHouse. Matt is an absolute perfectionist. The quality of his work is outstanding and his attention to detail is to be admired. The ability he has to make complex carpentry adjustments to ensure a perfect fit is amazing. He was joined by Cameron who worked equally as hard.

Chris EdgeCounty Durham

Had a challenging kitchen to fit and Matt did a very professional job. The workmanship is amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend to anybody.

Tracy AllisonNewcastle

The floor had rotted from a leak under the washing machine. Matt repaired it without hesitation and carried on. Tidy, polite and the finish is spot on.

Bespoke joinery questions we get asked

If yours is not here, ring and ask. We would rather tell you straight than have you find out halfway through.

What counts as bespoke joinery?

Alcove units, wall panelling, staircase work, window seats, boot rooms, home office desks, bookcases, bench seating and one off cabinets. If it is joinery and it has to fit a room, we will look at it.

How much does a one off piece cost?

It depends entirely on size, materials and how much of it is drawers. A window seat with storage might be several hundred pounds, a full boot room or office installation runs into thousands. You get a written price before anything starts.

Can you work from a photograph I have seen?

Yes, and most people do. Send the picture over and we will tell you honestly what will work in your room, what will not and why, and what it would cost.

What materials do you use?

Usually a painted MDF carcass and frame for painted work because it stays flat and takes a finish well, with solid timber where it has to take wear or show a grain. Oak, ash and walnut veneers where the piece is not being painted.

Where is it made and installed?

Our fitted furniture is made locally here in the North East, then installed and scribed in the room. Walls are not square and floors are not level, so the final install is worked to the space in front of us.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in County Durham and work right across the North East, including Durham, Chester le Street, Seaham, Peterlee, Washington, Sunderland, Newcastle, Gateshead and Northumberland.
