Shaker and square panelling
The most asked for. Clean square frames, usually to picture rail height in a bedroom or full height behind a bed.
Shaker, Georgian, slatted or board and batten.
Set out so the panels land evenly on the wall, taken properly into the skirting and the architrave, and handed over filled and primed ready to paint.
Set out first, cut second.

Panelling looks simple and it usually is, right up to the point where the panels have to line up. A wall with a door on one side and a chimney breast on the other will not divide into equal panels on its own, and a run that ignores that ends with a thin sliver in the corner that you will notice every day.
We set the whole wall out before anything is cut, so the panels read evenly, the rails line through with the door architrave and the run carries round a corner without a jump.
Battens are packed where the plaster dips so the faces sit true, joints are filled and caulked, and the whole thing is sanded and primed. Your decorator gets a wall that is ready to paint, not one that needs sorting first.
We will tell you at the visit which style suits the room and the ceiling height, and which will make it feel smaller.

A lower run with a dado rail and moulded panels, right for hallways and dining rooms in older houses.
Vertical slats on a backing board, in oak, painted or black. Used behind beds, in media walls and down hallways.
Simple vertical battens over a flat ground, a plainer look that works well in cottages and smaller rooms.
Panelling that follows the rake of the stairs and carries round onto the landing without the lines breaking.
Every joint filled, every edge caulked, sanded and primed as standard so the decorator can go straight on.
Panelling often arrives alongside other work. Sockets need moving, a radiator needs dropping off the wall, plaster needs making good. We bring our own electrician and handle the making good rather than leaving it for somebody else.
Short jobs, but they still get a proper visit and a proper price.
We come to the room, measure the wall, check the ceiling height and the obstructions, and talk through styles that suit it. Free, with nothing owed after.
A set out for the wall, the style and the moulding, and one written price covering the joinery and any making good.
Grounds and battens fixed and packed true, panels and mouldings cut and installed, joints filled and caulked.
Sanded, primed and checked over with you. Painted in as well if that was priced. Rubbish taken away.

We used Matt to install a kitchen we purchased from InHouse. Matt is an absolute perfectionist. The quality of his work is outstanding and his attention to detail is to be admired. The ability he has to make complex carpentry adjustments to ensure a perfect fit is amazing. He was joined by Cameron who worked equally as hard.
Had a challenging kitchen to fit and Matt did a very professional job. The workmanship is amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend to anybody.
The floor had rotted from a leak under the washing machine. Matt repaired it without hesitation and carried on. Tidy, polite and the finish is spot on.

If yours is not here, ring and ask. We would rather tell you straight than have you find out halfway through.
A single feature wall in a bedroom usually lands between four hundred and nine hundred pounds depending on the size of the wall and the style. A hallway and stairs run costs more because of the rake and the number of cuts. You get one written price before we start.
Shaker and square panelling, traditional Georgian style with a dado, tall wainscot, slatted timber, and board and batten. We will tell you at the visit which suits your ceiling height, because tall panels in a low room make it feel lower.
Yes, that is most walls. We pack and scribe the battens so the panel faces run true even where the plaster behind does not, and we take the mouldings into the skirting rather than stopping short of it.
We hand over filled, caulked, sanded and primed ready for your decorator as standard. If you want it finished, say so at the quote stage and we will price the painting in.
A single feature wall is usually one day, sometimes two with the filling. A hallway, stairs and landing is normally three to four days. Painting is on top of that.
We are based in County Durham and work right across the North East, including Durham, Chester le Street, Seaham, Peterlee, Washington, Sunderland, Newcastle, Gateshead and Northumberland.
Send a photo of the wall as it is now and the style you have in mind, and we will come out, measure up and put a written price together.
